Event Activities

Race Day Schedule – Saturday, May 12, 2012

Start/Finish Line:  Cherry Street at Alamodome Parking Lot C (near corner of Durango Street).

Volunteers
New and returning volunteers are encouraged to get involved.  The first 650 volunteers to register will receive a T-shirt courtesy of Quilted Northern Ultra in appreciation for their efforts.  Parking is not included, see parking fees below. 

Arrive Early
If you are driving to the Alamodome, please plan to arrive no later than 6:30 a.m. so you can park and walk to the designated corral at the start line before opening ceremonies.   Allow ample time for possible traffic delays and parking entrance lines in the area due to the high volume of vehicles headed downtown.  REMINDER:  Streets will close at 7 a.m.

Via Park & Ride
Crossroads Mall at 151 Crossroads Blvd., Blossom Athletic Center at 12002 Jones-Maltsberger and Frank Madla Transit Center at 1584 Cantrell.  First pick up is 6 a.m. from the Park & Ride locations.  If you want to make it to the start of Race at 8 a.m., please make sure to be at Park & Ride locations before 7 a.m.  After 7 a.m. we cannot guarantee that you will be at Race by 8 a.m. Last pick up from the Alamodome is at 11 a.m. Park & Ride round trip fares include:  $5 for Adults, $2.50 for Children ages 5-11 and free for Children 4 and under.

Parking
We expect more than 30,000.  Traffic control will close downtown streets by 7 a.m. for Race course.  Available parking is city managed with fees of $10 to $12. 

Rain or Shine
The Komen San Antonio Race for the Cure will occur rain or shine.  We reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances.  In the event, there will be no refunds; rather, your entry fee will be considered a donation to the Komen San Antonio Race for the Cure.

For your safety
For the safety of all participants, in-line skates and pets will not be allowed on the course.  Strollers, baby joggers and wagons are permitted, but you are asked to go to the back of the line for you and other participants safety.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Race Preparation
Weather conditions are unpredictable and it may be hot and humid on Race morning.  Participants should arrive and remain properly hydrated and be prepared to run/walk 5K* (3.1 miles) on paved city streets.

Awards
Course is USATF certified (TX02108ETM).  Awards presented to:  Overall Top Female and Male; Top Three Breast Cancer Survivors; First Place Master (40 to 59) Breast Cancer Survivor; First Place Senior (60+) Breast Cancer Survivor.  Listing of all timed runners available shortly after Race at www.komensanantonio.org.
